Zen At The Lake

by Richie

I was verging on a meltdown. So it was time to go sit by a lake and contemplate my navel for a few days.

A bout of stress and anxiety plagued me for a few weeks, not the least of which was the passing of our dear cousin Joe.

When I find myself getting too wound up I know it’s time to return to Zen principles.

The mind is like a bowl of water. Should you do anything to keep the water peaceful? If you want the mind to be still just leave it alone. Let it be.

Calming the mind means not letting it run here and there as it wants. If you are bothered by disturbing thoughts, you do not have to drive them away or repress them. Just substitute another more loving, peaceful thought for the disturbing one.

Forget the Past. Don’t worry about the Future. Live in the Golden Present. Peace is within.

Yeah, that’s better! Smiling now.

Just lovely – studying these images is almost enough to create a bit of zen for me. What lake is this?
