I’ve been poking around old houses again while waiting for Spring to come around.
A new bourbon distillery is being constructed right down the road from us. They bought several connecting farms last year and are busy bulldozing, building, and rehabbing. I wandered onto the property the other day and found this old house being renovated.
The place was empty and the door open so I poked around a little bit. Renovation is well under way, but I found some old remnants in the corners.
Outside an old cow shed was still standing. It didn’t look like much from a distance, but up close were some great weathered boards.
Don’t know why I have a such a deep fondness for old stuff, but it’s easy to find if you don’t mind a little trespassing.
In the near future this new distillery will be a significant asset to the community. There will be a restaurant, train station, and extensive walking paths looped around multiple ponds. Right now it’s a big, muddy construction site.
Since there was already an inch of mud on my boots, I poked around the heavy equipment, too.
I’m ready for a change of season so I can get out of my old house and travel in the RV. What’s on your Spring list?

On what few trips I take to L’ville these days, I’ve been watching a batch of new rackhouses going up to rick up those barrels at Heaven Hill’s Cox Creek storage facility just off E31, which aren’t nearly as interesting as your latest batch of pictures. That’s quite a plan they have for Log Still — a train station! Yep, you can tell I wasn’t nearly as impressed with a restaurant or walking trails, huh? Sounds like it will definitely be worth a visit when the complex is all finished. And to find out what the house is being rehabilitated to become, too!
Started my Spring already with taking advantage of the nice days to tear out all that dried up bad grass that took over the flowerbeds-that-lack-flowers out front. Although they are well padded for the short duty each day (if I last an hour, it’s amazing!), my knees are complaining and my back is saying “yeah, tell me about it!” in agreement. Otherwise, inside and working on GHOST NOTES once more.
We’ll have to plan a group trip to Log Still when it opens!

I love old stuff too! The history and the thought of how many other people with other lives have been there is amazing.
Which distillery is going in? Is it in Bardstown?
