Let’s see what’s around south central Tennessee on a gorgeous spring weekend…

Tucked in a picturesque valley between winding hills is the Dickel Distillery where fine Tennessee whiskey has been made for generations.
Up in Kentucky, it’s called the Bourbon Trail. Down here they have a different name. A small tasting room in the back of the gift shop offered samples of Dickel products. Bonus if you’re a veteran – no charge for a flight of whiskey! They will also mail your postcards for free.
The Dickel campus was peaceful and lovely. Good spot for a picnic. The distillery operations are located across the street. Tours were offered, but we skipped it this time.
We camped at a nearby state park with friends that weekend. A concert at The Caverns brought us to the area.
Old Stone Fort state park had easy hiking trials that hug the Little Duck River. It’s a popular place on the weekends, filled with families, kids, and dogs.
The big feature of this park was a series of natural waterfalls along the trail. If you’re brave, you can skitter across the slippery rocks to cross the river.
The “fort” of Old Stone Fort was a Civil War encampment, now a rubble of stones with not much left to see. More interesting are the Indian mounds in this location. A millennial ago it was a site of great importance to native people. But like the stone fort, there’s not much left of the original Indian mounds to view.
It was a quick weekend trip and these were two easy places to visit in the Manchester, TN area. Next time we’ll poke around more!

Loved the views of the falls!
Wet & Wild!
So cool. I see Tullahoma on your first image. My Tennessee man’s hometown. Haven’t been there since his mom passed away a couple of years ago. Miss going to those parts, though.
We love our southern gentlemen!
The park is beautiful and the whiskey is delicious. Friends even better.
