Pleasant Hill Holiday

by Richie

The Shakers called their village Pleasant Hill, and for good reason.

Easter Sunday bloomed with the promise of spring. A fine day to visit Shaker Village and partake of a good holiday meal.

Simplicity and devotion to their community were the hallmarks of Shaker life.

Their penchant for clean design looks contemporary, and their distinctive furniture is quite sought after.

One Shaker sister remarked, “I’m afraid I will be remembered as a chair.”

It was a serene, peaceful place to spend Easter Sunday. Far removed from the madcap news of the world.

They served up a swell Easter dinner of lamb and ham at the Trustee’s Table.

A pleasant day at Pleasant Hill.
