Raise your hand if you like to go antiquing. Me! Me! Me!

Glendale, Kentucky is a supurb destination for all things antique.
It’s a tiny town but sports half a dozen large antique emporiums. An active train track bifurcates the center of town.
First stop, the Whistlestop Cafe. It’s a local legend. Been around for 50 years and serves up some fine country cooking.
Duly fortified by a giant lunch, we spent the entire afternoon perusing the shops.
You can easily walk from one antique shop to the next in Glendale.
The stores are repurposed buildings with great atmosphere and creaky old wooden floors. Each was a huge, multi-level maze of all things old, rusty, and dusty. We loved it!
My eye always gravitates to depression glass. I adore the wonderful color and form of the glassware from the 1930’s-50’s.
Even if you’re not a collector, it’s fun to walk around these shops and see how many things you recognize from your childhood. Hey – grandma had one of those!
By late afternoon the weather turned inclement and it started to sleet. Time to make tracks out of town.
If you have a chance, Glendale is a fine spot to spend an afternoon. As an old antique myself, I recommend it!

It’s been a while since I’ve visited. Might be time again.
Have bought antiques in the area (and there used to be a distributor for sweaters who lived nearby and had a resale fashion shop in the strip), but have gone much more often for fried chicken and pies at the Whistle Stop!
Love visiting Glendale and its shops. Sure takes you back in time.
