There’s nothing more romantic on Valentines Day than a good murder mystery!

State parks offer a surprising array of entertainment. The one in our area, My Old Kentucky Home, is especially stellar because they have a professional theater and a pool of talented local actors. Plus an historic home that serves as a great venue for all things spooky.
Our murder mystery evening started at the visitor center with cocktails and a buffet dinner.
The mystery began when an unlucky groom was poisoned on the day of the wedding. We were given a newspaper with hints about key suspects to peruse. Then, after dinner, a Detective assembled us on the veranda and deputized everyone to assist in solving the case.
Next we trotted over to the old mansion, the scene of the crime.
Inside, suspects were located in half a dozen rooms, standing in their wedding clothes among the antique furniture. We, the deputies, were allowed to interrogate each of the could-be killers. We took notes. Sort of like a live Clue game.
After the suspects were grilled and the evidence collected, we were shown to the old stable house to piece together the crime. A video presentation revealed the killer, which none in our group had guessed correctly.
Cookies and coffee ended the murderous evening.
Even though we were terrible detectives, it still was a fun Valentines Day.
I guess the message of the evening was Love Kills.
