My first visit to a Buc-ee’s. More than just a gas station!
Passed by a Buc-ee’s (pronounced Bucky’s) in Calhoun, Georgia and had to see what all the fuss is about. Yes, it’s a giant gas station with more pumps than I could count. But it’s also a destination stop. Everybody goes there!
The huge store was stocked full of goodies and packed with shoppers. They even have grocery carts to load up all your loot.
I’ve heard folks rave about Buc-ee’s food. Especially their BBQ and beef jerky, served up by uniformed employees in cowboy hats.
As I walked around, it struck me that most of the merchandise is Buc-ee’s branded.
It was cute at first, but then I realized this is just a giant merch store. Everything had the damn beaver on it. Underwear, dog toys, Christmas ornaments, packaged food, doodads and knick-knacks. Talk about self-important. Who buys this stuff, anyway?
Nothing was spared from corporate branding…
I was on beaver overload. Buc-ee was stalking me.
I escaped without buying a single buc-ing thing.
Folks, I go to these places so you don’t have to.
Oops, what I should say is – there’s plenty of stuff still on the shelves for you to buy.

I hate to shop period, but I know people who think this is the best place on the planet Earth.
This is what happens when we close the mental institutions 😂
The reputation is that the food (especially bbq, jerky, and baked goods) are 5-star, better than any grocery, bakery, or restaurant around. People tend to go for the bbq or bakery, and then maybe pick something (branded) up on the way out on impulse! There are now two somewhere in Greater Louisville area . . .
Yes, the food looked fresh-made.
Definitely way too many beavers in ball caps. You could have nightmares!
Truly frightening!
I had to see for myself. One word: Nuts! Though the fresh jerky? Best I had.
Crazy, right?
lol! Thanks for the warning.
Save yourself! 😁
